Weekly Update
September 21, 2026
Word Work: This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.
Laps for Lincoln: Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start. We had an exciting assembly on Thursday and packets came home in each student's folder along with a letter detailing the information. Thank you for your support.
Parent Teacher Conference Scheduling: I appreciate those of you who have been able to sign up for a conference time. If you have not been able to select a day and time yet, please click on this link and select a time that works best for you as soon as possible.
Lory’s Place: Lory’s Place offers support for grieving children in local schools. Lory's Place supports the needs of those who grieve, providing a safe space for healing after the death of a loved one. Lory’s Place peer support group at Lincoln will take place monthly during school hours. Please contact mmendoza@sjschools.org with questions or interest for your child.
Science Unit 1: We have begun our first science unit exploring the diversity of animals and habitats. Last week, we explored a cave to find there was a lot of poo inside and make guesses on the animal or animals that lived there. This week we met many different animals and explored the classifications and traits that define each group.
